Our Wedding Party - The Bridesmaids & Groomsmen

Our Bridesmaids and Groomsmen are an impressive group of individuals and they proved that to us yet again during our wedding weekend! I can not say enough amazing things about this group!  From running last minute errands to providing tissues and bottles of champagne, they were there at the drop of a hat…no matter what!

The Girls: I must take the time to brag about my bridesmaids! They are the most beautiful girls in the world, inside and out!  On the day of the wedding, they were drop dead gorgeous!  A patron at our hotel told Megan (the beauty second from the left) that they were absolutely beautiful! She responded by saying, “Oh yeah! You should see the bride! We are sixes next to her!”

The Details: The bridesmaids wore long black gowns, chose their own chunky necklaces, and had their hair & makeup professionally done by an on-site beauty squad (Hair by Jewels and Kim Reyes Makeup)!  Their bouquets were the masterpiece of Shelly Bagdasian at B Floral & Event Design and included a mix of white roses and ostrich feathers.

The Guys: The groomsmen were a complete hoot!  From providing comic relief during group photos to tearing up the dance floor, they made the night so much fun! Not to mention the fact that they looked good!  Don’t they look so sharp?!

The Details: The guys wore black suits from Macy’s.  Believe it or not, they were less than $100 and they looked like expensive suits!  They wore black skinny ties I bought from Ebay for $5 each.  Their art deco boutonnieres were from Lilies and Lemon Drops Etsy shop and were a huge hit! I heard a groomsmen or two make the comment, “These are the coolest boutonnieres I’ve ever seen!”

Their Chuck Taylor shoes were from Nordstrom and a gift from the groom! Not exactly art deco but we wanted to show off the groom’s personal styles and add a touch of uniqueness!

    Bridesmaid Gifts: Jewelry

A bridesmaid gift is one of the best ways to say “Thank You!” to your lovely ladies.

    Make it special!!

Your gift will say thank you for all the things you forget to say, such as:  ”Thank you for holding my dress while I pee!” ”Thank you for spending $300 on the bridesmaid dress you will never wear again! ”Thank you for slapping me in the face when I had my Bridezilla moment!”  ”Thank you for giving me that porn star-like lingerie at my Bachelorette party that I will never wear even when I am drunk and feel like I have the body of Heidi Klum!”

One great idea for your leading ladies is JEWELRY! What girl doesn’t like jewelry!?

    Here are my top picks!

    1. First up is a cute little necklace from Dogeared.com ($26-$54)! Lots of different charms and colors to choose from with a poem that is way better than what you could ever think of on your own!

    2. If they were never born, they wouldn’t be your bridesmaids…Right?  Show them how glad you are that they were born by gifting them zodiac pendant necklaces from MaxandCleo.com ($110)!

    3. I am still waiting to be gifted an initial necklace from Tiffany&Co! But for a more affordable option with the cute factor, these little initial necklaces from SweetMemoryBaskets.com  ($46.99) are adorable!

    4. And because I personally love initial necklaces so much, here is another option from anthropologie.com via RealSimple.com!

What do you think? Which is your favorite?

    Being a Bridesmaid Sucks!

No, not really! I actually LOVE being a bridesmaid.  It is such an honor to be selected to stand next to the bride on the most important day of her life!

BUT, being a bridesmaid is EXPENSIVE!  If you read the news and have any interest in wedding related things, you may have seen the article, The high cost of being a bridesmaid on CNN.com!

The article states, “After adding up the cost of the dress, accessories, travel expenses, wedding gifts and more, WeddingChannel.com found that it costs about $1,695 to be a bridesmaid. The estimate was based on a2010 Real Weddings study that surveyed more than 20,000 brides nationwide.” (CNN.com)

I know that I am asking my lovely ladies for A LOT! An expensive dress, airbrush makeup professionally done, and a hair style done by a talented, reputable stylist! Not to mention the cost they incurred for the most EPIC bridal shower and Bachelorette party weekend in history! I know that one round (for 6 girls) of vodka red bulls cost my dear friend Ashley, $125!!!!

Now that we are into the last few days of July, they will be paying for their flights here and the two to three day hotel stay for the actual wedding. None of this includes, gifts, food, alterations, jewelry, etc.

Have you been a bridesmaid? Did you enjoy it?  Any tips for other bridesmaids? Any tips for brides?

    Saying “YES!” to Wine

One my of best girlfriends is getting married next June!  She asked us to be her bridesmaids with custom wine bottles!  What a cute, creative way to ask!  It really made me feel so special! I love when brides pick non-traditional ways to ask her friends to share in her special day!

Thanks Ash! I can’t wait to stand next to you on the most special day of your life!

I am lusting over these dresses.  How is it possible that one dress looks so good on so many different people?
