The {Surprise} One Year Anniversary Trip
One month ago, we celebrated our one year wedding anniversary by taking a weekend trip to Carmel & Monterey, CA. Beetle worked feverishly to keep his lips sealed on the location + details of the trip, which means I didn’t find out where we were going until we got there.
The long weekend was filled with activities such as kayaking, whale watching, a couples massage, a visit to the Monterey Aquarium, and the biggest surprise of all, which was a beach bonfire party!
Hands down, my absolute favorite part of the anniversary trip was the beach bonfire my husband coordinated, which was the most romantic thing that has ever happened to me in my life. As we walked down to the beach, we stopped at a picnic blanket next to a bonfire that had a message in a bottle, a s’mores kit, and a bouquet of one dozen roses!
I was so overcome with emotion that I yelled, “Are you serious? I feel like I’m on the Bachelorette, except you are going to tell me you want a divorce!” Why on Earth would I say that? It truly was a huge surprise and the sweetest thing, which also happened to be the most unexpected.
*Note: A big shout out goes to Romantic Room Designs, which is a company Beetle hired to decorate our hotel room and coordinate the beach bonfire. Very impressive!
