    My Mom, My Inspiration

I blog a lot about beautiful wedding inspiration. I also blog a lot about the stress and trouble of wedding planning, but not once have I talked about the important people in my life who have inspired me and help shape the woman I am today (shame on me)!

One person who inspires me each and every single day is my mom! Yes, I know she looks like my sister!  We actually hear that more times than not!

My mom has supported me in every decision I have ever made in my life…even the bad ones (e.g. nose piercing junior year of high school). She entertains the crazy ideas I have (i.e. getting a sleeve tattoo) and most importantly, she knows the importance of letting one make their own decisions so that he/she can learn from their mistakes or revel in their personal victories!

Her life has been anything but a cakewalk. I don’t know many women who could keep their sanity while raising three kids in diapers at the age of 18! Even though life isn’t always roses and butterflies, you will never hear her complain. Not ever! She has a way to roll with the punches and make lemonade out of lemons! Now that I look back at all the griping I did during the planning process, I feel so foolish.

Through all of her love and support, I have blossomed into the married woman I am today!

I love you momma bear! Thank you for all of your love and support through the years!

    {Real Simple}: A Guide to Wedding Tipping

If you are still confused on how to tip you wedding vendors, take a look at this tipping guide from Real Simple.

    Here are the basic guidelines:

    1. Check Your Contracts - Often times the gratuity is included on the contract. Be sure to look over it carefully so you aren’t double tipping.

*Tip: If the tip is NOT included in the contract, you may want to consider adding it so you don’t have to deal with it the day of your wedding.

    2. No Need to Tip the Owners

    3. Reward Extraordinary - If you feel a wedding vendor has gone above and beyond, send a personalized thank you note with a gift card or bottle of wine to show your appreciation.

    4. Check Ceremony Policies - Ask if your congregration has donation guides. The more active a member, the more you should give.

    {My Amazing Sister}

I am a twin.  I would like to think that I am the better half…but that isn’t true! My sister takes the cake. Being a twin, we have shared everything from birthdays to chickenpox!   We even shared pageant hair and tiaras in the 80s and 90s!

My wedding day was the one occasion in our lives that was all mine.

Well, I guess that isn’t entirely true…The wedding photos show all of her blood, sweat, and tears in the programs, menu cards, signage, and matchbook sets.  I think “most supportive sister” award goes to her!  She also claims the title of “most creative person alive.”

As I am approaching my 6 month wedding anniversary, she will soon be celebrating her 2 years of marriage.  She is an inspiration and a role-model, and I can only aspire to be as good a wife as she is!

In the world of bridal magazines, bride focused television shows, and bridal blogs, there are so many awesome ideas and inspiration to choose from on how to style your wedding day!  Unfortunately, if you are a {daring} bride who likes to push the envelope and step outside the “norm,” it can be a challenge to be different.

Start with a black wedding gown!  Vera Wang has some awesome ones to choose from if you have a bigger budget for the dress.

    Are You an Outdoor Bride?

Are you a bride braving an outdoor wedding? Do you like beer, BBQ, and games?  If so, I have the perfect addition to your wedding reception that comes in the form of lawn games! Get ready to call your wedding planner, mom, best friend, aunt, grandma or whoever is helping with your planning to find out how to add these!

How cute are these corn hole boards and decorative bags shot by Shyla Photography via Style Me Pretty ? (Call it what you like…corn hole, bags, etc - it’s the same game!)

Personally, I prefer the customized bride and groom silhouettes but the ones you have sitting in your garage will work just fine!
